Birth

Having three children of my own, it's hard to decide which I would like to write about. Having children and being part of a birthing experience is different. I took part in my nephew being born and this was an experience I'll never remember. Giving birth and watching someone give birth is different. I selected this experience because it really touched me. I watched a life come forth into this world. I was there to help someone bring life into this world. This really touched me. I can remeber holding my sister's hand telling her everything would be alright.  She was there for me throughout all three of my births. It's funny because for some reason I did not think she would feel any pain. It made me feel good to be there to assist her like she was there for me. When my nephew was born, I was so proud and happy. I was able to help someone that helped me bring life into this world. To this day I am very close with my nephew. So close I consider myself having four boys instead of just three.  My sister was having complications and she had to limit the number of people in her room. At first I was not allowed in the room. I was able to come in about 15 minutes before he was born.
I feel that birth is very beautiful. It's awesome the way a female can bring another life into this world. She is there to for this child nine months prior to him/her being born. She puts her life at risk to bring another life here.  I  feel that a child's development is impacted right there at birth. The love or lack of at this first point into the world plays a lot in the child's development.
I selected to write about birthing in  China. While doing research  I saw an article that talked about the fact that there is a "One child" law in China due to the overcrowded population. Many people are trying to get by this law by using fertility drugs to have twins or multiple births at one time. This is very different from the USA because there is no such law here.

  1. Crystal,

I also feel that childbirth is beautiful. I think it is beautiful, painful, and overwhelming at the same time. I too found it interesting a crazy that China has a One Child law. How can a government control the number of children that a person has. That is nuts to me. Good post though.

  2. Crystal,
Child birth is an experience that all women remember. Due to modern medicine, it is not as painful as it used to be. However, it is necessary to understand that our country has prenatal care which helps to ensure a healthy birth.
